BRISBANE LIONS
The Brisbane Lions Australian Rules Football Club has been through many ups and downs since its itroduction into the AFL in 1987 (as the Brisbane Bears as they were then). It 1997, they became the Lions after a merge with the Fitzroy Football Club. There best season was 1996, when they finished 3rd in the AFL, and Michael Voss brough the first Brownlow Medal to Brisbane.
They have played in he finals in 1995, 1996 and 1997, although they had a disapointing season in 1998, in which they finshed fist (from the bottom), they are ready for a good 1999 seasons, they could be an underdog for the flag.
They play at the 'Gabba, thich this year has been upgraded to seat approximatley 40 000 people. This could be the insiration the Lions are looking for.
